
Kathleen McAteer
Kate is the chief academic officer at Washington State University Tri-Cities, a leading public research university that serves a large percentage of students who are first in their family to attend college . Kate has a BS in Biological Chemistry from Ulster University in Northern Ireland and earned her Ph.D. from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of South Carolina. Before joining the faculty at WSU Tri-Cities, she worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and prior to that, she was a Teacher-Scholar at the University of Washington. As the stakeholder engagement lead, she works with a team to support the PNWH2 Hub to create a hydrogen ecosystem across the Pacific Northwest in partnership with labor, Tribal Nations, and public and private sectors to improve the lives and futures of people throughout the region.
